
Proton Saga will enter the Australia Market with the name of Proton S16. The Proton S16 sedan will be on sale by 1st December 2009 for GX Manual transmission. The S16 is the latest model join up Proton Australia selling. As with the name suggested, the S16 will be powered by 110 bhp 1.6-liter Campro IAFM engine paired with five speed manual tranmission box.
The Proton S16 will features 1.6L campro IAFM engine, AM/FM/CD audio system, power steering, air conditioning, remote central locking, drivers SRS airbag, and five seating. It also cover a full three year unlimited worranty with three years free roadside assistance and 7 year anti corrosion warranty. The Proton S16 is available in five colours, which are solid white, solid red, mountain blue, tranquility black and genetic silver. It comes with accessories such body kits, spoilers, boot liners, reverse sensors, and alloy wheels.
The Proton S16 will given it’s Australian market entry at a cost of just $11,990 drive away, which makes it the cheapest car in Australian market. The car originally price on $13,000 base price but however trim the lower price since the favourable exchange rates of Aussie dollar and Malaysia Ringgit.
“S16 will be the only new four door sedan available in Australia for less than $16,000 and will outpoint low-cost hatches and three-door models by offering a 1.6 litre engine and great equipment levels,” Billy Falconer, Proton Cars Australia said in a release.
The GX model offered now comes with 413 liter boot and standard features above. While the GXR version which to be released next year will be the highest standard of equipments by adding alloy wheels, reverse sensors and fog lamps. The auto version will get it’s debut soon, and GXR will be introduced by July 2010 which adds dual airbags, ABS, alloys, reverse sensors, and fog lamps to the kit.
Furthermore, Proton Australia has also signed on Miss Universe Australia 2009, Rachael Finch for some advertising appeal. She will be featured in all Proton S16 advertisement in Australia. Look for Miss Finch after the jump.
